You will work anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day.

They range from 4 to 6 days in length depending on the needs of the community

This depends on the needs of the community. Most our projects involve construction, interacting with children or community development
How close ARE the volunteer experience to major towns, cities, and western amenities?
All our projects are in and around the major cities.
Are there any specific rules on curfews, dress code, behavior?
Yes, every country has different rules. We will provide you will dress code, curfews and behavior expectations once you have picked your country.
We do not allow smoking or drinking while volunteering since we are working with vulnerable communities.

What is accommodation like?
Very basic but clean. Accommodation while volunteering does not have air conditioning. After your volunteering experience is over, all hotels will offer air conditioning and the accommodation will improve but will still not meet a 4 star standard.
What type of company is saving the hungry? Non for profit or for-profit
We are a Not For Profit. Our goal is to raise money through volunteering and through socially conscious travel to improve the quality of the communities in which we work.
How does your organization partner with local businesses and employ local labor?
The funds we raise help go towards employing locals that will work alongside us. Our volunteers do not replace local employment
Can I talk to others that have traveled with Saving the hungry?
Absolutely! If you have any reservations at all then we would encourage you to talk to people that have been on one of our teams.
How long is a typical trip?
Our trips (including volunteering) range from 11 to 16 days. You are welcome to add on additional travel time and we would be happy to help you design an itinerary, however the volunteer time frame will not change.
Who pays for my international flights?
You are responsible for booking and paying for your international flights. We will require your flight details so that we can arrange your pick up from the airport. We expect everyone to be on the ground the day before you start your project
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, as soon as you commit to joining or building a team we expect a 30% deposit. A % of your deposit goes towards costs for your project. The other % goes towards holding your accomodation.
if i cancel is my deposit refundable?
No, it is non refundable
are volunteer costs built into the cost?
Yes, the cost of volunteering is included in your itinerary
Do i need to FUND-RAISE
No you don't however we highly encourage it. All our partners are grass roots organisations and greatly depend on the funds we raise

can a child under 18 be on one of your teams?
Yes, but they must be accompanied by an adult
do i need to have special skills?
No, in fact most of our volunteers do not have special skills. All we look for are a willing hearts and working hands
Do I need to speak the language?
No, we have interpreters on site to help you communicate with the locals.
Will I need vaccinations?
Every country has a different vaccinations requirements. We recommend you speak to your local health authority at least 8 weeks before you travel.
Can I travel alone?
Yes, many of our guests have traveled alone. it is a great way to make new friends.
can I travel with a friend or partner?
Yes, you can.
Who takes care of all the travel arrangements?
The minute you land on the ground we take care of all your accomodation and travel requirements.
do i need to be an american or canadian to join one of your teams?
No, everyone is welcome.
If you book my travel arrangements who benefits?
All profits go back to Saving The Hungry and are invested back into the community we work with.
Is Saving the Hungry a legal not for profit?
Yes, we are a registered Canadian Not For Profit.
Do I need travel medical insurance?
Yes, Saving The Hungry does not offer travel insurance.

Is Internet access available?
Internet access is available at all hotels. While volunteering and in rural areas, the signal can be weak and there is no Wi-Fi
Do you need a special visa?
Saving The Hungry will advice you if you require a visitors visa.
How will i get to the volunteer placement?
All transportation is taken care of by Saving The Hungry. Our buses are air conditioned and comfortable
