THE PROS
South Africa has something for everyone. From wide open spaces, miles of white beaches and an abundance of flora and fauna this country will soothe your soul and delight you.
Visit the Kruger National Park and see the big 5 in their natural habitat or spend time in the Cape Winelands sampling award-winning wines. For those that love the outdoors, this country won’t disappoint, with plenty of sunshine, mountains, seas and rivers there is always something to do. Hike up Table Mountain, ride horses in the Drakensberg or watch whales in Hermanus.
With some of the most spectacular landscapes, colorful people and amazing wildlife, South Africa is a haven for photographers. It’s no wonder visitors lose their heart in the rainbow nation called South Africa.
THE CONS
South Africa is a nation with a very deep and turbulent history. Since the official end of apartheid in 1994, the country has been struggling to combat entrenched poverty and inequalities. South Africa is judged to be one of the most unequal societies in the world.
37% of the population don't have enough money to purchase adequate food items and over half of South Africans live below the national poverty line.
South Africa currently faces the ‘triple challenge’ of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
OUR WORK
Our partners are located just outside Johannesburg, South Africa. The township is found within a farming community. We work closely with the community to build 4 roomed home for those in desperate need. The community chooses the family who will be given the home. This home build can be done within 4 days. You will have an opportunity to work in the local township and experience life within the slum.
If you love to get your hands dirty and help with construction, this will be an extremely exciting project to be a part of, as the need is great but the rewards will be significant.

OUR PARTNERSHIP
We partner with two organisations in Gauteng, South Africa that work together in partnership to assist those in need.
The 1st is an elementary school that services the children from the squatter camps (slums). It is a "not for profit" school offering education to children from surrounding informal settlements, and disadvantaged back-grounds. The mission of the school is lift children out of poverty by growing tomorrow's African leaders; leaders of character, strength, respect, and integrity.
The school has children with all learning-abilities including slow learners and those with handicaps. Parents are responsible for 25% of the school fees, and the remaining cost is supported by donations. There is also a feeding program in place as only 30% of the children come to school with a full belly.
The 2nd organization we partner with is a volunteer-led program building schools, orphanages and homes in the local slums (townships) using modular containers. Here we work along side engineers and builders that focus on design, systems and education of local workers to keep as many children and family’s safe from the elements and build strong communities.
